Happy Little Things

Happiness is an integral part of our existence, shaping our thoughts, health, longevity, and access to goodness. It even influences the way we live our lives. In essence, happiness is the nourishment that sustains us every single day. However, as we gradually grow older and drift away from our youthful innocence, the happiness that once felt so close in childhood becomes the most distant thing in adulthood.

In today’s era, finding happiness each day can be a time-consuming and challenging endeavor for some, especially when compared to the abundance of suffering. This may be due to our personality, society, environment, or the experiences that shape our daily lives through habit or lack of attention.

Like many others, I too have grown up and found myself living each day out of habit. Happiness has become increasingly distant, overshadowed by suffering, sadness, grief, and stress. These negative emotions have become the first things that come to mind. It made me realize that everything in life starts with ourselves, and we are the most important thing that we need to take care of.

I believe that seeking small, balanced moments of happiness each day can fill and restore our body and mind in a stable way. Finding and accumulating these little joys every day has made me re-examine my own happiness, evoking memories of a childhood filled with contentment.

I want to convey that sometimes finding happiness in life doesn’t have to be about grand gestures. Doing simple things and finding joy in the small things every day, whether it’s the atmosphere, surroundings, animals, or people, may seem trivial, but they can offer meaning, specialness, and a warmth that makes our hearts swell with a smile on our face. These moments become the driving force that allows us to live each day.

To record and collect the small moments of happiness I encounter each day, I have invited a little girl named “Nini” to be the representative of youth and the protagonist in my artwork. Each picture is like an undiscovered land or even a world, inviting us to explore, journey together, and grow alongside Nini as she introduces us to her friends, stories, and joyful memories.
