The “Further Than Sight” exhibition draws inspiration from the real-life experiences and imaginative worlds of its reclusive artist. Known for a love of solitary drawing and online collaborative fantasy novel writing, the artist’s work in this exhibition reflects a blend of personal emotions and visions from both reality and imagination.
During the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent crises, some paintings capture the artist’s feelings of loneliness, despair, and monotony. In contrast, other works depict vibrant landscapes and fantastical cities from the novels co-created with online friends, highlighting their deep emotional connections. These imaginative scenes present a stark contrast to the more somber reflections of the real world.
This exhibition aims to illustrate the unseen connections between “reality” and “imagination,” showing how they influence our lives, perceptions, and understanding of ourselves. Through a diverse and intriguing collection of artworks, the artist hopes the audience will gain new perspectives and find inspiration to view the world—both real and imagined—in their own unique ways.
