ABOUT ARTIST

Rangrong Kosiyaporn is a Thai artist, born on February 7, 2002, in Ang Thong Province, Thailand. She began her primary education at a local school in her hometown, which was also the time when she developed an interest in drawing. Her passion for art initially grew from watching her mother and relatives draw pictures for her. The drawings were simple, depicting a little girl with changing outfits and basic coloring techniques. However, at that time, these drawings seemed incredibly beautiful in the eyes of a young child, sparking a deep-rooted love for art. This passion eventually led her to pursue a degree in the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts at Chulalongkorn University.

In her work, the influence often stems from what she read and saw during her childhood. Adults would tell her stories, and she read a variety of books, which sparked her fascination with the beliefs and myths of different cultures. Among the most intriguing stories for her were those about monsters, which she encountered through various media. These tales blended with her own experiences, including those related to family, friends, and the obstacles she faced in daily life. This gave rise to feelings that could not be expressed in words, or even memories that she didn’t want to forget. Eventually, it led to the creation of a realm a world that embodies everything that formed her. In this world, the people are represented by the shapes of monsters, each carrying emotions related to those people and places. The work often uses dark, muted colors, yet still holds traces of light, guiding the viewer through the complex emotions conveyed in her art.
