ABOUT ARTIST

Natthaphon Chaiworawat is a multidisciplinary artist intrigued by the binary of individuality and collectivity of humanity and how intertextuality manifests in our daily lives.  He examines his personal encounters as the foundation for understanding social phenomena. Throughout his artistic career, Chaiworawat has explored various forms of art including still images, moving images, installations and performances. With a bachelor degree in photography, Chaiworawat began his artistic practice mainly in the field of photography. However, performativity has always been an element in his work, as the content of his photographs is the record of his bodily reactions to environmental encounters.

In 2018, Chaiworawat received a master degree (Meisterschüler) in Visual Arts from Akademie der Bildenden Künste München (Academy of Fine Art Munich) in Munich, Germany. Since traveling to Europe to study live performance with a group of artists called “Black Market” in 2015, he shifted his interest to expressing through performative and recording processes which, he claims, reveal interconnectivity and consolidation of individuality and collectivity. Chaiworawat participated in several exhibitions in Europe and Asia including Boraks Art Series (2018) Adelaide Australia; PAErscheLAB17 (2017) Performance Art Conference KulturbunkerKöln- Mülheim, Cologne, Germany; “Things Inside” solo exhibition (2017), Akademiegalerie, Munich, Germany; Asiatopia (2016) Performance Art Conference, Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, Bangkok Thailand; “Art en Capital 2014”, organized by La Société des Artiste Indépendants (SdAI), Le Grand Palais, Paris, France; and Copenhagen Photo Festival (2014), Copenhagen, Denmark
