(b.1997, based in Bangkok, Thailand)
Kanokwan Sutthang is a visual artist whose work explores the tension between nature and human intervention, with a particular focus on invasive plant species. Based in Bangkok, she draws inspiration from agricultural landscapes and the overlooked life forms that exist within them, especially those that spread invisibly and persistently through air and wind.
Her practice spans painting, installation, photography, and object-making, often incorporating natural materials and delicate structures that mirror the fragility of her subjects. Kanokwan is especially drawn to the movement and behavior of weeds, seeing their drifting seeds as quiet symbols of resilience, disruption, and interconnectedness. She holds a poetic and critical lens to the role of these plants in our ecosystems, questioning how we define what is welcome or unwelcome in the natural world.
