There is no definitive answer to life. Although our lives are filled with repetition, it is through this repetition that we move forward. Just as the sun rises and sets, only to rise again, and as spring passes but inevitably returns, we navigate the cycles of our daily lives. Modern individuals, despite being surrounded by crowds, continue their repetitive lives while carrying the weight of uncertainty. In this era of overwhelming information, we struggle to find the right frequency to tune our lives to.
Paradoxically, people tend to follow the flow of the crowd in an attempt to share their anxieties, often losing their independent thoughts in the process. The minds of others fill our inner world. One thought leads to another, shaping our words and actions. Without knowing where they are heading, people bury themselves in their egos, dividing the world into “you” and “me,” happiness and unhappiness. When everyone looks in the same direction, few have the courage to gaze elsewhere. We stand somewhere in this life, simply searching for the frequency of happiness.
Thoughts arise from the mind, and once they emerge, they endlessly intertwine in repetitive cycles. Whether we willfully choose to or not, our thoughts chase after distant mirages, leading us away from the essence of life. A romantic poet once said, “Beauty is truth, and truth is beauty—that is all ye know on earth, and all ye need to know.” Perhaps the reason we fail to see beauty is that we live in a culture dominated by the mind.
In my work, the parrot-headed figures represent modern individuals who blindly follow trends and repeat patterns, confined within self-imposed boundaries, much like an island isolated by its own borders. Within these boundaries, they release balloons of hope and fly kites, seeing the world through the innocent eyes of children. Yet, hope remains within us at every moment. Like children, we should live with a sense of wholeness, loving fully rather than leaving room for resentment.
There is, indeed, an answer to life. Though our days may be repetitive, hidden within them is a melody that resonates with both tremor and harmony. When the divisions between us dissolve and we vibrate together, we will finally realize and understand this truth. To erase the seriousness from our faces and rediscover genuine laughter through humor and wit—this is the path to the essence of life. Laughter is the energy of living in the present moment. When we attach a balloon to the waves of energy and reach the frequency of happiness, we will find ourselves on a new journey beyond boundaries, toward the infinite universe.
