ABOUT ARTIST

Born in 1966 in Singapore, Jason Lim is an acclaimed artist whose work centers around the fundamental elements of nature: earth, water, air, fire, and space. His artistic endeavors aim to unveil the intricate relationships between nature and the world we inhabit. Lim explores the convergence of the body, matter, and spirit through many mediums such as ceramics, sculpture, photography, film, performance art and printmaking. His creative process involves meditative practices and repetitive actions, producing thought-provoking and visually captivating works. The repetition establishes a sense of continuity and rhythm which allows him to be more fluid in his techniques and in turn express himself more intuitively. Through performance art and printmaking, he aims to create a multidimensional experience that invites viewers to reflect on the importance of self-reflection and choice, think about the temporary nature of existence, and discover new layers of meaning within his work. Since 1994, Lim has showcased his art in prestigious international festivals and exhibitions. Some notable highlights include “Toowoomba Relics” at Australia’s Craft Queensland Gallery in 2003, “Wolves in Winter” at the South London Gallery in the UK in 2006, and his participation in the 52nd Venice Biennale in Italy in 2007, to name a few.
