ABOUT ARTIST

Jakrapong Siririn, also known as “Song,” is the bassist of the band PARADOX. In addition to his career as a musician, he has a deep passion for the arts. Having been drawn to art since childhood, he pursued and completed his studies in Art Education at the Faculty of Education, Chulalongkorn University. During his time there, he met Ta, a fellow member of PARADOX, and together they formed the band that continues to thrive today.

During the break from music performances due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Song devoted more time to his artistic endeavors. This led to his first art exhibition in 2022, titled “Mirror Mirror on the Wall, Who Is the Fairest of Them All”. The exhibition stemmed from his lifelong fascination with art and explored questions through the creative process, incorporating elements of the Rorschach test—a psychological assessment he had previously experienced. Through this exploration, he discovered an artistic method that acted as a “personal gateway” to delve into the unseen aspects of his inner world.

This “gateway of color” emerged from techniques involving paint squeezing, folding, pressing, and allowing colors to reflect and interact in a fluid balance between control and spontaneity. It opened a space where conscious expression overlapped with the unknown, creating a dialogue between the seen and the hidden. Through this process, Song engaged in an introspective conversation with himself, contemplating the fundamental questions: “Who am I? What defines me?”

As he worked through this personal artistic exploration, he encountered fragments of memories that surfaced unexpectedly, inviting him to examine and play with them throughout the creative process. His exhibition, “Memories”, encapsulates the journey of self-discovery he embarked upon through this artistic gateway. He invites audiences to partake in this journey—whether through imagination, personal reflection, or shared and individual experiences. Song embraces all interpretations, welcoming every fragment of “memory” that may emerge through his work.
